Presiding Deity is called as Swarnapureeswarar and Mother is called as Periyanayagi. It was a brick structure. This brick structure was converted to granite structure by Ponparapina Rajaraja Kovalarayan on the orders of Kulothunga Chola III in 1184 AD.
