Today’s most promising high school students will be tomorrow’s scientists and engineers, doctors and entrepreneurs – the people who invent the future – but only if they realize their potential. Gifted te*ns have unique needs not often met in their schools: for role models, intellectual challenge, true peers, and the confidence to dream bigger dreams. SSP is an immersion into experimental science, designed to challenge and inspire talented rising seniors from around the world. Working in teams of three, participants complete a research project from beginning to end: either in ASTROPHYSICS – near-earth asteroid imaging and orbit determination – or (new in 2017) BIOCHEMISTRY – fungal enzyme inhibition and drug discovery. Each team acquires its own original data and performs its own an*lysis. Field trips and guest speakers round out an intense 39-day schedule. The experience changes What makes SSP so life-changing?
